Are credit card consolidated loans a bad idea?
I just recently got married and our parents didn’t help us with the wedding we pretty much did everything on our own, so as it turns out our credit card bills are a bit out of control and we are only paying the min. on all of them. I was considering a consoliation loan to pay them all off and I would still end up with a lower payment than paying the min. on all of our credit cards put together.
instead of a loan where you are moving your bill from one place to another and risking putting yourself into a worse position with the accounts still open and usable, you should consider a debt manangement program. Stay away from settlement companys. Those are bad news.
But there are debt management programs that can reduce your interest rates, reduce your monthly payments and consolidate it into one monthly payment.
I went with a company called Debt Counseling Corporation. they are not for profit and they have really been great. My payment was out of control and my interest rates were so high. I had a Chase account that i was paying 29.99%—can you imagine??? Anyway–the program lowered my interest to 6%. As you can see, that has saved me a ton of money on that alone.
